In the beginning....

This is the first post of hopefully many, to chronicle what my family has termed "Sewturday".  Every Saturday, the girls get together for a fun day of quilting, sewing, talking, laughing...whatever we choose to do.

It all started many years ago, with the oldest sister, working as the lone quilter, with an occasional visit from the rest of us.    Between her and my mother, the inspiration hit me, and I made my first quilt.  I decided to hand quilt it, because, if my sister can do it, so can I.  Well, that was a complete failure, so I put it away for many years.

I finally decided that it was time to take it out and try again, and voila ! !  I picked up on it right away.  I fell in love.   Ended up getting a queen size (or larger) quilt from my sister to actually do the quilting on.  LOVED IT ! !  Still didn't care for the sewing too much.  I put one or two together here and there, and finally...Sewturday began.

It began small...mostly just the two of us, and mom would come out when she could.  We went to a paper piecing class, and completed the top in a couple months of Sewturdays.  Then one day, the sister that is between us in age was out for a visit.  I told her that she should come join us, and it's been that way ever since.

The youngest sister lives too far away to join us in person, but thank heavens for technology.  She is able to join us via FaceTime every once in a while, and we have been having a great time working on another paper pieced project together.

I will try to post our adventures for anyone that would like to read...things are probably more fun in person, than on here, but it will be a good way for us to remember things, as we get older.
